Supporting Early Concept Assessment in Evolutionary Engineering Design

Researcher Robert Wichmann

Goal Supporting early concept assessment in evolutionary engineering design to adapt technical products to a new or gradually changing industrial context.

Industrial evolution will motivate a change toward a digital paradigm where technical products are adapted to conform to a new context of systems thinking, platform design and n-sided markets. This will impact engineering design as the focus will shift from designing and delivering finished products as the predominant practice to a constant adaptation and refinement of existing products. The goal  of this project is to provide organisations with a support in early concept assessment to identify the best, as in most viable and economically sound, concept (change), in order to reduce the investment (time, cost, effort) of design adaptation.
