During Girls Day, the Chair of Product Development provides insights into the work of a product developer.
Last year, the event was held purely digitally due to the circumstances. This allowed interested schoolgirls from all over Germany to find out how multifaceted this engineering profession is. They were also given an insight into what it's like to decide to study at the University of Rostock. One student shared her experiences first-hand. She and two members of staff from the Chair of Product Development were able to answer many questions about the career of a product developer, studying and also life in Rostock.
The students then got to know the TinkerCAD computer program. They had already created their first 3D model before the lunch break and then the students had time to implement their own ideas. They were then given an insight into the opportunities available to students at the Chair of Product Development to turn prototypes into reality with the help of 3D printing in the so-called makerspace. As a small reminder of the day, the students had the opportunity to send us their own modeled components and received them in 3D-printed form.
We are already looking forward to the next Girls'Day in 2025.
